Request a quotation Technical specifications

A dark blue safety cover closed across an outdoor pool in an English garden, the water still visible at the near end

Lasts

Anodised track, stainless fixings and a sealed drive unit. Replaceable parts, not a sealed assembly.

Quality

Hydraulic drive built and tested in the UK. Norwegian engineering standards since the 1970s.

Protects

Closed on a key switch. A closed cover forms a solid barrier over the water surface.

Top mechanism, flat track TOP · FLAT TRACK
Section through the pool end: the roller sits above the coping and the track is fixed flush into the deck.

The roller sits visible at the pool end and the canvas runs on a flat track fixed to the deck. The simplest arrangement PoolLock builds.

  • Advantage: No pit, no structural work. The cover can be added to a finished pool.
  • Advantage: Every moving part is reachable without lifting a lid.
  • Advantage: Lowest installed cost in the range.
  • Disadvantage: The roller is part of the poolside view and cannot be hidden.

Top mechanism, pocket track TOP · POCKET TRACK
Section through the pool end: the roller sits above the coping and the track is recessed into the coping.

Same visible roller, but the track is recessed into the coping so nothing stands above the walking surface.

  • Advantage: Nothing to trip on: the track sits inside the coping line.
  • Advantage: Cleaner sightline along the pool edge than a flat track.
  • Disadvantage: The coping must be cut or specified with the recess in advance.

Top mechanism, top track TOP · TOP TRACK
Section through the pool end: the roller sits above the coping and the track is mounted on top of the coping.

The track is mounted on the coping surface. Used where the coping cannot be cut and the deck cannot be lifted.

  • Advantage: Fits existing pools with stone or tiled coping, without civil works.
  • Advantage: Track and roller can be removed and the pool returns to original.
  • Disadvantage: Track is visible and stands proud of the coping.

Section through the pool end: the roller is hidden in a dry pit below the deck and the track is fixed flush into the deck.

The roller is hidden in a pit under the deck at the pool end. From the poolside only the canvas is visible.

  • Advantage: Cover and mechanism are completely invisible when open.
  • Advantage: Pit lid can be finished to match the surrounding deck.
  • Disadvantage: Requires a dry pit engineered into the pool surroundings.

Section through the pool end: the roller is hidden in a dry pit below the deck and the track is recessed into the coping.

The ultimate safety installation: roller hidden below deck and track recessed into the coping stones.

  • Advantage: Zero visual intrusion: neither roller nor track projects above deck.
  • Advantage: The cleanest architectural integration PoolLock manufactures.
  • Disadvantage: Requires coordinated civil engineering of both pit and coping.

Section through the pool end: the roller is hidden in a dry pit below the deck and the track is mounted on top of the coping.

The roller is submerged in a dry pit below deck, while the track sits on top of standard coping.

  • Advantage: Hides the mechanism without cutting finished coping.
  • Advantage: Track can be replaced without touching the pit.
  • Disadvantage: Visible track undoes part of the reason for hiding the roller.

Disadvantages are stated because they decide the specification. If access matters more than the sightline, say so before the pit is poured.

Questions about this cover

Does the cover need electrics near the pool?

No. The drive is hydraulic and the power unit sits away from the pool. Only the key switch is near the water.

What happens in a power cut?

The cover stays where it is, and it can be closed by hand. Your installer shows you the procedure at handover, and it is in the manual that comes with the cover.

Can it be retrofitted to an existing pool?

Yes, with a top mechanism. It needs no pit. An under mechanism requires a pit built in advance.

The same layout carries both covers

Identical modules, identical hierarchy, identical calls to action. The pages differ only in their values. The manual cover is the cost-effective entry to a secured pool, not a lesser product.

Safety

A closed PoolLock cover forms a solid barrier over the water surface and is built to carry the weight of a child who walks onto it. A cover reduces risk. Supervision of children around water remains necessary.
